The United Island Congress is the governing legislature of the United Island. As of February 9, 2017, the Congress consists of seven members who meet in the Government Center in Island City. These seven members may propose new laws, known as propositions, to the rest of the legislature. If a majority of Congress votes in favor of the proposition, it is added to the United Island Book of Law and becomes the law of the land. As of February 3, 2017, there have been twenty-four propositions in the history of Congress, seventeen of which remain national law. President MayorSamuel has held the position of speaker of Congress since its formation on December 19, 2016.
History[]
On December 19, 2016, Malachi_Brown, backpack5689, MayorSamuel, and kit_kat_27 convened in the congressroom of Malachi Tower across the river from Eden. These four representatives proposed the first thirteen propositions, ten of which remain national law. This established the United Island as a sovereign state, and many of the basic laws outlining crimes such as griefing, stealing, and murder. This first meeting of Congress, now known as the First Continental Congress, also outlined the rules of the Congress itself.
The Congress of the infant nation continued to meet in Malachi Tower in modern-day North Eden until December 28, when the United Island Government Center was completed in Island City. Government power was transferred to the new capital, as guaranteed by Propositions II and IX. As of February 3, 2017, a total of twenty-three propositions have been voted on in Congress, seventeen of which passed. Proposition VII was repealed by Proposition XVII on December 29, 2016.
On February 4, 2017, Proposition XXIII officially revoked S1CS's citizenship, and by extension expelled him from Congress. This was in response to the secession of Staufenberg from the country one day earlier.

After the First Continental Congress on December 19, the four original members of Congress gradually voted three new members into the legislation. S1CS held a seat in Congress until Staufenberg seceded from the country on February 3, 2017. This is a list of the six current members of Congress.
